Promoting Musical Literacy Through Scholarship
Son de mi Gente is a multi-phase initiative dedicated to supporting aspiring San Antonio-area music students. At its heart is Mariachi Entertainment System’s (MES) 10th Anniversary Album and Concert. The concert will be free for the public to attend, and 100% of album proceeds will go toward funding scholarships.
Son de mi Gente es una iniciativa de varias fases dedicada a apoyar a los estudiantes de música en espera del área de San Antonio. En su núcleo se encuentra el álbum y concierto del 10º aniversario de Mariachi Entertainment System (MES). El concierto será gratuito para el público, y el 100% de las ganancias del álbum se destinarán a la financiación de becas.
La Misión
Mariachi Entertainment System are not only performers, we are a team of formal music educators, and it is our mission to facilitate access to resources that will encourage young musicians to focus on literacy and academia. The scholarship is intended for disadvantaged youth; aspiring young musicians who would not otherwise have access to amenities which would afford them the opportunity to advance their musical learning as an advantaged student may have.
Mariachi Entertainment System no solo somos músicos, sino también un equipo de educadores musicales formales, y nuestra misión es facilitar el acceso a recursos que fomenten que los jóvenes músicos se enfoquen en la alfabetización y la educación académica. La beca está destinada a jóvenes en situación de desventaja; músicos aspirantes que, de otra manera, no tendrían acceso a las instalaciones y oportunidades que un estudiante privilegiado podría tener para avanzar en su aprendizaje musical.
